How we built a robot: the story behind the BE-A project
Hoteliers are facing a problem—a shortage of skilled workers. FLÆ Robotics approached us with a solution. Their vision was unconventional, unique, and appropriately disruptive. All it took was one thing—to fundamentally change the hotel industry.
First Challenge
Create a complete AI receptionist from scratch, one that will have personality, be ready to help guests 24 hours a day, and be able to have a robotic body in a few years. And also create an online platform that will represent her properly.
Solution
We created a 3D model of the perfect receptionist, which we brought to life using the most innovative techniques available today. We helped choose the name BE-A for her and gave her personality and style. We created her a modern website and actively launched her social media accounts.

Don't get us wrong, from the beginning we knew conceptually who BE-A would be and also that...
She is the perfect humanoid receptionist.
She is built on advanced AI, so it can communicate with guests in several languages.
It doesn't mind working nights or holidays, and it always helps out busy human colleagues.
But what will she look like?
For months, we tested various forms of visuals, including clothing. We knew that BE-A would be a woman. And we knew we had to admit that she was a robot in order to avoid the "uncanny valley" effect. We decided on robotic limbs in contrast to clothing that is clearly human, has friendly colors and shapes, is a bit futuristic but at the same time conservative, and is meant to complement the impression of care and friendliness, important characteristics of BE-A.
We then animated her 3D model using Unreal Engine and the Metahuman model. At the time, we correctly predicted that the Metahuman concept was the future of virtual identity. We are already a year ahead in development, able to animate any virtual mascot or arrange for your CEO to make a virtual appearance anywhere in the world. And thanks to the BE-A project, we have also discovered the perfect way to present virtual avatars.
This was followed by a fresh and modern website where you can find out who created BE-A (more on that in a moment), where to find it, how much it costs, and what are the plans are for the future.

Second Challenge
Help create a brand that will be sufficiently representative to vouch for BE-A as a product.
Solution
We created a brand, website, and complete graphic assets and marketing materials for FLÆ Robotics. This included photographs, profiles, and business cards for the founders and key members of the team.
The minimalistic future
The client gave us a lot of freedom with the website, which allowed us to go for a futuristic, slightly sci-fi feel and a minimalist interface.

The FLÆ Robotics team was then ready to start presenting the perfect receptionist at conferences and trade fairs with professional company cards and other materials. It all kicked off at the AI Hotspot conference, where BE-A was officially unveiled to the professional world. Once again, we made a significant contribution. We participated in the preparation, dramaturgy, and "handling" of the presentation of the new product for hoteliers.

BE-A
The primary target group for BE-A is hoteliers. It was important that they heard the message loud and clear.
BE-A introduced itself in person at AI Hotspot, where its presentation underscored the strength of the client's brand. It also gave its first public interview there for Czech Radio. Thanks to our activities, great articles were written by Wired magazine and the daily newspaper Právo, and reports appeared on CNN Prima News, among others.
We also created a video depicting a situation they know very well. We invited an android to an interview. Not a real one, but a dream one.
Result
BE-A is a project that clients don't come knocking on our door about every day. And we are really proud of what we have achieved. Setting trends? We were a year ahead of them. We created the foundations for strong communication for the entire project and two diametrically different yet confident websites. Thanks to the work of our team, BE-A has personality, a unique design, and even at its very inception, it is clear that this is a product of the future.
